Gerald Howson was a British photographer and painter. In 1959. he was commissioned by the elite magazine „The Queen” to capture the realities of communist Poland in his photos. He then visited Krakow, Nowa Huta, Warsaw and Lublin. After this trip, there are still photos showing the everyday life of the inhabitants of these cities. The interesting form and use of the conventions in force in painting make these photographs take on extraordinary charm. The photos were only discovered recently, during a chance meeting between Bogdan Frymorgen and Howson.
The publication also includes explanatory texts by Frymorgen and an interview he conducted with the photographer in London.
